Eagle System for College of Law At University of Arizona
Back to List
T he 'EAGLE' (Express Admission _ Get Law Education) team was formed in Spring 2000 in MIS531B class, supervised by Dr. Sudha Ram. Its mission is to help the College of Law at the University of Arizona to improve its Admission Management System. Its main objective is to build a web-based prototype admission system using Oracle 8i, and Oracle WebDB, and to prepare an implementation plan for the client.
Base on several interviews with the staff in the Admission Office at the Law school, the team first analyzed the problems in the existing system.; Then, it came up with the conceptual design for the database application; Next, several choices of logical design were evaluated and final table schema was selected. Finally, the physical design was completed and all the components were built and integrated into the prototype system.
The EAGLE system was successfully implemented with full-fledged functions. It not only eliminate various anomalies in the table design of the old system, but also enhances the efficiency, flexibility, accessibility and user-friendliness of the system. Based on investigation of the client's computer environment, comparison of alternative products on the market, and discussion with the Director of Technology at the Law School, the team provided an implementation plan for them.
The system is expected to help Law School shorten the process of integrating the admission system and registration system in the future.
